We don’t distract you with a long list of trivial issues, because many off-target pronunciations are unimportant until the more serious problems have been addressed. In this regard, the Accent Report is deliberately not a “comprehensive” list of problems, because we believe too much detail is a distraction.

The issues in the report will each take you at least a few weeks – and in most cases a number of months – to confidently control. That means the Accent Report covers the equivalent of many hours of training. The difference is that you need to work independently to make progress.

The Accent Report focuses you on a set of 4-8 issues (depending on complexity) that you need to prioritise for better clarity in the Australian English-speaking environment. Most of these issues will require dedicated work, and some may be quite difficult.

Is Accent Reduction at Home appropriate for you?

Ear & Speak’s Accent Reduction at Home program is most suited to second-language speakers of English with strong to moderate accents.

The Accent Report is a tool for you to use for self-study. Changing your accent/pronunciation requires time, patience and initiative, especially without face-to-face help.

It’s important to understand that the Accent Assessment process involves some quite detailed steps before the Accent Report is prepared, so that we can get the best possible information and recordings from you.

The Accent Report focuses on a set of important issues that most affect the clarity and quality of your communication. It won’t provide you with a long list of all your mistakes.

It is almost always better to use high quality face-to-face training services if possible.
